We always love horror and thriller movies, my friend Ram and I. We make some ‘scary’ arrangements for watching those movies on laptop like closing the window with thick and dark blanket, switching off all the lights, increasing the treble and bass so that the sounds pierce through our ear drums to the heart. We always loved them!
For me, the character which horrifies me or thrills is the protagonist – the hero of the movie. I always love to see this character not dead at the end. I wanted to see that character to live always. I hate the movies which kills that character at the end. Many times I returned home from theatre scolding the story writer for killing that character. The feel you get is different when the ‘evil’ still ‘alive’ at the end. This character ‘haunts’ you! If the character could manage to ‘haunt’ me, that is my favorite movie.:)
Okay… these are apart. Ram sent me a list of best horror movies. Of course, it has some best entries along with the worst entries. They all got “Saturn Award for Best Horror Film” The worst part is… Sweeny Todd: the demon barber of Fleet Street could make an entry into that. While watching that movie… I was impressed for the very first scene visuals – approaching the London Bridge while the boy was singing, “No place like London.” The rest of the movie goes fine – too good visuals. But the cutting throats and the much bleeding – in fact oozing blood did not horrify me but gave a wrong impression. That is not horror! Even though, I did not like the movie, Ram liked it, because he watched it in theatre. I watched it on my laptop. :) That makes the difference.
Here is that list sent by Ram. (In red are my favorites, In blue are the worst (means not haunting.
